June 30, 2009 - Wurlitzer Power House 2

Apparently I'm not alone in my desire to explore and photograph all these old abandoned places. "Urban explorers" are everywhere, finding fascinating historical sites and making fine art in New York's (and the world's) abandoned, forgotten, or forbidden places. Finding that there actually is a community of like-minded individuals out there has been quite a discovery... and will likely lead to me trespassing with greater frequency.

June 24, 2009 - The Incredible Gretchen

Thumbnail image for Gretchen-1-Draft---Warmtone.jpg

Here is the incredible Gretchen. Writer, actor, waitress, and Brazilian-Buttmaster-infomercial extraordinaire. She was in the middle of telling me a story when I shot this. I don't recall specifically what she said, but from the look on her face it think it was funny, but slightly mischievous.

But seriously, so I ever update this friggin blog? I hope to more now that it's working again. I've had a love-hate relationship with movable type. Love the back end and love the beautifully minimalist design (thanks Amy), but fixing anything takes weeks because I just don't have the knowledge base to do it without professional help. I actually started another "smallformat" on pixelpost, which is much, much easier to manage and change, but I don't like any of the template designs available thus far. Wordpress may actually be the answer.

I'm thinking I may post more "people" photographs. I take more photographs of people than I do of the industrial-abstract-architectural-grime-decay work that you most often see here, but have always thought of the latter as more fine-artsy and postworthy. My most promising new career options, however, will most likely include pointing my lens at other human beings more often than anything else, so I'll be putting a bit more effort into finishing the post-processing of the people photos I take, posting some of the better ones here.
